Maori Hill Tram RouteThese 1919 map views show the route taken by the Maori Hill electric trams.The Maori Hill depot was in Spylaw Street, shown with red dot on the map above, but apparently passengers were taken only as far as Drivers Road terminus, shown with blue dot. At the Roslyn end of Highgate by the Fire Station, the tracks then went down City Road which at that time was called Taieri Road. Note that Highgate was previously High Street, until at least 1907. At the junction of Sligo Terrace the tracks turned south along Scarba Street, then curved around towards the city to meet up with the Roslyn cable car tracks at Ross Street. A green dot shows this point at left. |
