What we did - Making kites

Part one

I can recall making kites from old brown paper, thin sticks and string.

Looking at my picture, we got two short lengths of thin wood or bamboo and tied them together in the form of a cross using proportions similar to the picture.

Slots should be made into the ends of the sticks to provide a way to stop the string from slipping off - figure D.

Once the cross is formed a length of string needs to be strung around the ends of the sticks, then tied off firmly at the bottom (point C) leaving a few inches of spare string for later use.

Make sure your paper is big enough - the paper is shown in green.
