Sepia views of shops on the corner of Taieri Road (top picture) and Helensburgh Road (bottom picture) are from an old newspaper - source and date not currently known.   The 1951 Stones Directory shows Daniel Bretherton as storekeeper & Post Office at this location (top picture) and this is the name shown above the door.

Also from Stones 1951 directory - on the corner of Helensburgh Road and Shetland Street (144 Helensburgh Road) was Miss Phyllis Hannah's store and adjacent to the was Miss Grace Bartlett's dressmaking room - Miss Bartlett was my Aunt.   Miss Gladys Featherston is shown at the same address.   The other shops shown above (lower picture) do not appear to be listed in Helensburgh Road.
