KAIKORAI SCHOOL JUBILEE

ANOTHER VIEW OF THE MUSEUM

BOTTLE 0!
One outstanding event that I'll ever live in the memory of the scholars of 1915-16 i~-111 be the giant effort put forth by the scholars of every school in Otago, which resulted in the huge collection of bottles to the number of 469,466 being collected, realising no less a sum than £2.502 8s. 5d.- of which Kaikorai School's contribution was 28.987 bottles, to the value of £174 3s. 9d. The much-needed Belgium Relief Fund was thus helped in a very practical manner, which involved no small amount of search and loving labour,on the part of the scholars. If you look into the museum photo, you will see on the top of one of the cases the "representative" bottle, giving the particulars of this notable and never-to-be-forgotten event of the Great War, The scholars also contributed well to the comforts of the many soldier boys who passed through the School by contributions of many kinds.
