CHARACTER BUILDING.

Kaikorai Soldiers.—But the most commendable test of the value of the work done in the Kaikorai School or in any other school is that which aims at detecting whether a chivalro•,M, noble character, genuine citizen-ship, and true patriotism have been produced. The Great War of 1914-1918 that was thrust on the world by Germany gave an opportunity of proving whether our School could stand this test. The noble response of ex-pupils and ex-teachers to the call of Empire showed that all those who had laboured in the best interests of the School had not striven in vain, for about 400 ex-pupils and 5 teachers enlisted, and 94 of them sleep their last long sleep many thousands of miles from home and school. All these name-, are inscribed on our handsome Honour Board. It is surely our great privilege to give the names of the 97 noble dead who were among the very best teachers and pupils that the School helped to develop. Lovingly, gratefully, and proudly we specially inscribe in this Jubilee Souvenir the names of:—
