The Roslyn Cable Car route taken thru the cutting from the top of Ross Street to the junction of Kaikorai Valley Road and Frasers Road has changed markedly since the service ceased operation on 26th October 1951. As you can see in the photograph on the right there has been somewhat of an upsurge in residential developement over the years and to many there would be nothing to indicate the existance of a cable car route in years past. I have marked the approximate route in yellow on the picture and the initial route from 1900 till 1906 is shown in red. This early route went from the top of Ross Street, around Belgrave Crescent and down the steep incline of Falcon Street, across Kaikorai Valley Road to Frasers Road cable car power house. Note: Falcon Street was called James Street till around 1913 when it was named after Robert Falcon Scott (June 6, 1868 - March 29, 1912) the British naval officer and Antarctic explorer. - see more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Falcon_Scott Delta Street was called Alpha Street until some time between 1919 and 1935.
