Transport Modes - the Morris Minor (Part 2)

Just for the fun of it and to verify some of the years for various Morris Minor models, I did a search of the Internet and have a few selected samples shown below. I take no responsibility for the accuracy of the information. Someone out there may well have an accurate source of information on these models.

As a matter of interest, note how early cars had the front doors hinged on the centre pillar making the driver and front seat passenger have to 'back into' their seat whilst holding the door from swinging backwards. The other problem I recall was alighting from the car with a head wind trying to 'rip' to door out of your grip! It could be a frightening experience for the unwary especially for lady drivers whose skirt or frock could end up like a parachute around their ears!

1965 Morris Minor

It appears the Morris Eight Series "E" was manufactured from 1938-1948 when the change was made to the Morris Minor which continued to be manufactured till 1965.

Then of course there were the many and varied versions of the Morris Mini the first of which appeared in 1959 proving even more popular than the Morris Minor. However, this is as far as I intend going on this subject at the moment. Hopefully it has brought back a few memories for you. There is a wealth of information on vintage cars out there on the Internet should you now feel the urge to delve further. A search using http://www.google.co.nz should bring up just about anything you care to look for.
