The Roslyn I.O.O.F. Lodge

As I have no information on this Lodge I have only provided a few photographs which show the location.
In addition, there is a link at the bottom of the page to information held at the Hocken Library.

Dr McMillan's practice and residence is the two storey building immediately behind the car towards
centre right and the I.O.O.F. Lodge is just visible behind the verandah past the dairy on the left.

Where cable cars once ran through Roslyn township, excavations for the Albert St extensions are being made in 1951. A 73ft 6in span bridge will carry traffic along Highgate over the new highway. To the right of the picture a wall of clay will be removed to allow the highway to pass under the bridge and drop towards the city. Photo: Evening Star. [The I.O.O.F. Lodge is at the extreme left].
Note: Re the reference to Albert Street extensions - the section of Stuart Street between York Place and Sligo Terrace was previously named Albert Street. It was renamed on January 1, 1951 when the Stuart Street extension was created. (Source DCC Archives).



View showing I.O.O.F. Lodge at left and overbridge at right was taken on 30 August 2008.   The two storey building in centre of the top photograph belonged to Dr. D.G.McMillan, this was demolished to make way for the north side traffic on/off ramps.
