Frasers Bakery situated at 100-102 Taieri Road

One of my best recollections was collecting the fresh bread, and pulling some of the still warm inside out from the open end of the 'square pan' loaf. It was especially good if you struck one which had surplus bread extending from the crust as Mum would then not notice it been 'got at'. I think my Mum got wise after a while and opted for a 'Vienna' loaf instead to make sure she got a 'whole' loaf when it arrived home.

The other product that I remember is the Victory biscuits they made to celebrate the end of World War II. As I recall they were two rectangular brown biscuits stuck together with icing and a big "Vee" in white icing on the top.

As can be seen from the 2007 view, vast earth works have both opened up the view of the old bakery premises and demolished the rear section together with some other buldings. I was just lucky my sister Doreen spotted what was happening and took some photographs.
