THE ROSLYN CABLE CARS were once met by electric trams at the junction, the latter running to Maori Hill. The electric service was replaced by buses on July 1, 1936. The power house for the electric trams can be seen in the background.

THE CUTTING, the well known dip from just below the Belleknowes golf course. The bridge is in Queens Drive. What will be done with the cutting after the cable cars have gone has not yet been decided, but part of it may be filled in.
Stuck in snow in Rattray Street
IT TAKES MUCH TO STOP the cable cars. They kept running through most of the big snow of 1939, when this picture was taken.

ONE OF THE EARLIER CARS on the Roslyn route, which has the distinction of having in it the first curve constructed on a cable car line. This picture, taken in 1894, shows the curve and loop below St. Joseph's Cathedral.
